71 Brewing

A small group of Members attended an informative tour of craft brewery '71 Brewing' on a wet and wild night recently.

We were talked through the amazing range of pilsner lagers and heavier beers by enthusiastic staff. The outstanding success of this company was welcomed by the Members.

The tour of the Brew House showed the detail and expertise which goes in to the process. The visit was enhanced by a couple of small tastings of the products.

We thank '71 Brewing' and organiser Peter Menzies for this most interesting visit and wish them continued success.

Butcher & Baker

The City Burgesses were invited to visit the impressive premises located in Annfield Road.

We were shown the extremely high standards maintained and wonderful presentation of a vast array of products representing the very best produce that the area has to offer. Plenty offerings for our vegetarian members too.

The staff were so knowledgeable and keen. The visit was informative and a joy to take part in.

Sleeperz

A large group of interested Burgesses were shown around the new Sleeperz Hotel which has recently opened above the train station opposite the Dundee V&A Museum.

Members heard of the challenges of constructing the curved building and were impressed by the attention to detail.

Various grades and sizes of rooms were explained to us and the initial occupancy levels sounded very positive.

Sleeperz provided welcome soft refreshments after the tour in their glass fronted lounge where Members enjoyed spectacular views of the V&A.

Dundee Transport Museum

An enthusiastic band of volunteers showed a large group of members around the recently refurbished Dundee Museum of Transport.

The new displays were of great interest to our Members who enjoyed a trip down memory lane.

We were delighted to hear that young school children were also being enthused by visits to the museum.

We were interested to hear of their longer term plans and delighted to be advised that since the V&A opened, visitor numbers to the Museum of Transport have increased.
